Karl Rove: "Does Idealism Have a Place in Politics?"

Saturday, March 20, 2010
7:00pm, Wabash College, Pioneer Chapel

Karl Rove

Karl Rove, the Senior Adviser and Deputy Chief of Staff to former President George W. Bush, will be giving a talk titled “Does Idealism Have a Place in Politics?” at Wabash College on Saturday, March 20.

Sponsored by The Wabash Commentary, Mr. Rove will address the age-old question of whether the political end ever justifies its means and discuss the tensions between working for big ideals in a world of imperfect people and imperfect politics.

Fred Barnes, executive editor of The Weekly Standard, has called Mr. Rove “the greatest political mind of his generation and probably of any generation… He knows history, understands the moods of the public, and is a visionary on matters of public policy.”

The talk will coincide with the release of Mr. Rove’s new book, Courage and Consequence. In it he pulls back the curtain on the Bush administration, setting the record straight on those controversial years and showing how tests of character affected him.

Since resigning as Deputy Chief of Staff, Mr. Rove has worked as a political analyst for Fox News while writing an op-ed for the Wall Street Journal and a regular column for Newsweek.

Mr. Rove’s talk will take place at 7:00pm in the Chapel of Wabash College. A Q&A session will conclude the talk, followed by a public reception, at which Mr. Rove will be available to sign copies of his new book. The event is free and open to the public.
